He is my Ally

Hello my readers, I am sure this will have come as a surprise to you popping up on your feed. Yes, this is my mission blog. I have officially been home for more than a year now.

Yesterday was Sunday, however, and after some great church meetings, I decided to come home and call some of my old investigators or mission families. It had been a while and my heart has been aching to talk to some of these amazing people.

This week in my religion class, as a closing assignment, we have the option to create a blog post sharing what we have learned this week. I found it a great opportunity to share what I have learned and to fit an assignment in this way.

This week, we were invited to read in the first chapters of Romans. Now, the Bible has never been an easy read for me. In fact, I have to admit, I have never read the Bible cover to cover. I have read all the chapters and it's content, but never from one end straight through to the other. So, studying the New Testament at school has been a blessing for me.

I ran across the scripture this week in Romans 8:31."If God be for us, who can be against us?"

In other words, if we have God on our side, then we have no need to fear of our enemies. What has been an overlaying theme this week to me has been the concept of trusting God. There have been many times that I have received a prompting and chose not to follow it out of fear of men. Men, or my peers for a better term, SCARE ME. I cannot handle well, being made fun of, criticized or torn down. Especially for something that is so important to me. For example, I remember once in high school pouring my heart out to a friend about my testimony of eternal life. While my friend respected me, a peer who was eavesdropping, immediately chimed in to tell me that my beliefs were fake and could not possibly be real. That broke my heart. I wanted him to so badly feel the peace and know what I knew to be true.

The important thing to remember is that God is always on our side. Even if we are not doing what's right, He is there cheering from the sidelines trying to get us back on track. However, we will not only be supported, but blessed when we stand up for ourselves and especially our Father in Heaven. So I ask the same question to you...."If God is for YOU, then who could be against YOU?"

"We don’t have to wait to cross the finish line to receive God’s blessings. In fact, the heavens begin to part and the blessings of heaven begin to distill upon us with the very first steps we take toward the light."

How Effective are Your Prayers?

HOW EFFECTIVE ARE YOUR PRAYERS?
This Question impacted me a lot. How effective am I praying?

LDS.org. Sister Linda S. Reeves posted an excellent article about this.

I love self-evaluating questions, like the ones she asked "How is our communication with our Father in Heaven? Has our communication with Him improved? Do we speak with Him more often, or less? How effective is our communication?”

Miracle of the Week

This Sunday we took one of our new members out with us to work. She just got baptized a few weeks back, and she was pretty nervous. We were praying that we would find people that night, becuase we didn't have any set appointments. We went to the first house, and the woman wasn't home. We ended up talking to somebody else and getting a return appointment for her to learn more.

We later went to another neighborhood, and we found at least 3 other families outside on the street for us to teach and talk to

It is always so much more powerful with a member there. She rocked it!

When are You Brave?

Our last Zone Conference we focused on when we are Brave. Being a missionary is sometimes a scary thing. We have to talk to complete strangers and invite them to hear more about the true Gospel of Jesus Christ.
So, our mission made a music video, where we all answered the question "I am brave when...."

So when are YOU going to be brave?
Go be brave, go share the Gospel. Why not?

My Rock

Today I am feeling grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ.

I am far from perfect. And, I am far from being without problems and trials in my life. I have had my fair share or challenges.
But something I have learned is that life, is stressful.

No matter how stressful, hard, or lost we may seem. HE, understands.

Jesus Christ paid the price for everything we will ever have to go through in this life.

That does not mean that, that diminishes our personal responsibility to act and suffer the consequences for our actions.

But, because of Him, it is possible.

Rockin the Tri-panionship

So, we had transfers last week. And me and my companion, Hermana Moleli both STAYED!
But, we gained another companion :)

Hermana Schultz joined our duo, and now we are a trio.

We have seen so many miracles the past week though. I have never felt so good at listening to the promptings or the whisperings of the Holy Ghost.

We were able to knock a door, walk into somebody on the street, or just visit the person that needed us most.

It's incredible to see how much the Lord's hand really is in this work.
Plus, we love using our exercise balls together :)

#CalledtoShare

If you have seen this hashtag around Facebook, I bet you are friends with some missionaries!

We are doing a 4 week event on online Proselyting. We are using Facebook as a tool to share what we know and have come to know through the Book Of Mormon.

I invite you to participate. Add yourself to the facebook group "Called to Share" and post a picture and a sentence each week on the event.

I discovered the Book of Mormon when I was young, through the example of my parents, reading it daily. I invite you to discover this book, and discover it again and again. #Discoverthebook

"For my soul delighteth in the scriptures, and my heart pondereth them" (2 Nephi 4:15)
I love searching the Book of Mormon! It always helps me find answers and bring peace to my heart. #searchthebook

Carry On

When in trials, it seems like there is no possible way carry on. It feels like we may be alone.

But I Know that our Heavenly Father is always with us. We just simply need to "Keep Calm, and Carry On" for he is with us.

Shall we not [carry] on in so great a cause? Go forward and not backward! (D&C 128:22)

Happy Year Mark to Me

On May 29, 2013, I became a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This has been the most life-changing year in my life, and I am becoming somebody I never thought I could be.

I have learned my potential. I still have a long way to go, but I am grateful that I know the path to get there. We are ALL children of our Heavenly Father. We all have a purpose.

I know that this church is true. I know that it is because of the church, the gospel, and my Savior Jesus Christ, I am, who I am, today.

"We become what we want to be, by consistently being what we want to become each day"
 -Richard G. Scott

It's been a while....

It has been a bit of time since I have had the chance to update my blog. [Sorry about that]

But I have learned a lot in the past few weeks. I have seen so many miracles. One of my main goals right now is to follow the Lord's will. I have learned that sometimes, answers to prayers don't come until Heavenly Father knows our heart is completely to accept whatever he needs us to do. That is called Real Intent. (Moroni 10:4-5)

Really Live

She is my hero!

I know I am Here for a reason...

I am serving my mission in the Washington DC South mission, speaking Spanish.

I was called to serve here by a prophet of God.

I will serve here for the entire 18 months of my mission. I have had the incredible opportunity to serve here for a year now, and have fallen in love with the people and the place.

I know that I have been sent here for a reason. These Specific people needed me....and I needed them.

A seed

Sometimes, we have no idea what kind of an impact our actions can make on others. Or the example we can be to others.

In December, me and my companion started teaching Rosemary. She lived below a member of our church for over 8 years. Her friend tried to introduce her to the church many times, but she was not interested.

Eventually, during a pivatol moment in her life, the missionaries knocked on her door. For the first time, she let them him and heard their message.

This past January, Rosemary took the step toward her Savior, and was baptized.

After her baptism, her children saw the happiness it brought her. Her teenage son, went to church and was invited to a scout camp with other youth. After that, we started teaching Noel.

He has been an amazing example to me, I have seen the change in him and I have seen myself grow from it.

Last week, Noel and his little sister Emily were baptized.

I have been touched by their story. It all started as a seed. It grew and grew, and will continue to grow. But, they will also touch and change the lives of others. I know they have changed mine.

It's the weekend!

Many thoughts come to me when I think of the weekend.

I think of how the weekend is not a time to relax, as a missionary.

I think of the warm sun, and un-rolled windows.

I think of how close we are the Monday-- Got the love our day to rest!

Then, my mind turns to Sunday. The one day a week that we are asked to rest from our labors. To worship the almighty God. To think of him. Attend church, and be made new through him.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, and your mind turns to the sacred nature of Sunday.

(Not to mention, tomorrow Noel gets baptized! Oh happy day!)

You are Never Alone

At times on our mission, we do everything we can to draw close to our Heavenly Father. But we still feel alone at times.

I am convinced when we are in trials, he watches lovingly, but must let us learn for ourselves.

But even when we make mistakes, are in trials and tribulations, or simply feel alone.....

He is with us. I know it.

We just have to reach out to him.

The Restoraton

Many of you know that I am Mormon.
But many of you don't know that, that means I am Christian.

We believe in Christ.
He lives, and he is our Savior.

When he came to the earth, he established his church with authority and power from God.
He gave this same authority to his twelve apostles.

After his death, the apostles were killed as well; leaving the earth without this authority.

There were good people, that looked for the truth, but they lacked the power and authority from God.

After a long period of time, a young boy wanted to know the truth. His name was Joseph Smith.

He asked God what church he should join. As he prayed,  Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and told him to join none of the churches- because they lacked the authority

He was called to be a living day prophet and restore the truth the world. He was given the same authority that Jesus Christ had.

Today we have the truth. But you have to find out for yourself, if it is true. We have a living day prophet and we have the EXACT same church that Jesus Christ established on the earth again.

It has been restored.

I know it is true. You just have to find out for yourself....

Sacrifice

I have never understood the concept of sacrifice.

Sacrifice is giving up something, especially something we love, to our Heavenly Father.

It is trusting in the blessings to come, when we give up something now.

I have a hard time with sacrifice. I say it willingly with my words, but struggle in my heart.

But, I know that every time we give something up for the Lord, we are blessed.
Blessing too numerous to count.

Because of Him

The church just released a new video, in order to celebrate and understand the real meaning of Easter.
It will be launched this week on Youtube, and displayed this Easter on the homepage.

I am so grateful for my Savior, Jesus Christ. He did the impossible. He died for us, but lived again.

So many things are possible, Because of Him
