There is no place like home

Last night I went out with a few members to track down some people. At the end of the night, of the girls I was with, asked me...

"Do you miss it?"
"miss what?" I asked
"Home. Your life before your mission"

That struck a thought. Believe it or not, I don't miss it.

Now, hear me out. I miss and love my family. I miss and love friends, and people that are, Oh, so close to me.

But I wouldn't trade being a missionary for anything.

Yeah. Sometimes, It's rough.
And, when things get rough, I just want to call my Mom, or my best friend. At night, sometimes I have to look at pictures, and try to remember the voices of them.

But I feel this overwhelming sense of peace, that, that time will come. One day, I will go home. {it feels like forever away} But that time is not now. And it will come sooner that I can imagine.

I want to enjoy every minute of my mission. I came for a reason, I came with a testimony.

I chose to give up 18 months of my life, to teach others about my church. Something I know to be 100% true.

So no. I don't miss it. Home will come.

 

But for now, I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

 

Now, that is something to enjoy :)

 

 

Remember that one time....?

Remember that one time? That time when everything seemed to go wrong? Yes, as a missionary, I still get those days.

 

In fact, I had a handful of those days last week.

 

It seemed that both me and my companion managed to both get sick, with different sicknesses.

 

Also, due to daylight saving, our alarm was set wrong, so we started off the day by scrambling when we woke up late.

 

All of our appointments seemed to fall through, one by one.

 

To put it plainly, things were not going my way.

 

I look back at my week, and who I was before my mission.

I have come to learn something on my mission.

 

Before, I probably would have been an emotional wreck {now that is not saying I didn't have my fair share of therapeutic chocolate}

 

But I handled the disappointments with a completely new understanding.

 

I knew, everything would work out. All things will be for our good.

Even when things seem crazy and hopeless, there is a light.

 

I am so imperfect. How grateful I am that I don't have to rely solely on my own abilities. But rather, I can rely on my Savior. Through him, I can do anything

The other day, even when everything seemed to NOT WORK, I looked up, and realized that the sun was shining for the first time in weeks. It was beautiful
 

Not to mention, we can choose how our day turns out. Regardless of what happens to us.

We can choose to be happy.

Let the little things, make the big difference

 

{Speaking of little things, the women sitting next to me in the Library just told me that she loves the color of my hair. Make my day}

 

So even if today is a train wreck, pick up the rubble and make it great!

Come unto Christ.

"Come, Follow me"

are such gentle and inviting words.

Christ never said, "come catch me"

He simply beckons us to take part of his love

Why is it then, that so many of us, Don't Come

 

We  have promised, by Jesus Christ himself, to "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest"

 

I can promise you something. His yoke IS easy, and his Burden is Light.

He will give you rest.

 

We have all suffered through our own amount of darkness and despair. There seems to be now way out. No earthy words could ever take away our sorry.

 

How many of us stubbornly refuse to even TRY giving up our sorrows to Christ.

 

I know, because I have been there.

There was a time in my life where, I had been taught principles my whole life. I had been taught about who I was, and that I could rely on Christ.

But yet, I didn't.

I still lacked my own personal testimony of him.  

Instead, I convinced myself that I wasn't miserable. I was fine. I didn't need help.

But the hole seemed to only grow.

 

I promise you, with all my heart, that your Savior, Jesus Christ, Suffered and died for you.

Not only did he die for your sins, but he suffered for your sorrows, sadness and any trial you will ever go through.

He is the only person that can understand the depth of your feelings. He's walked there with you.

 

So, I invite you. Put off your pride, and your stubbornness.

Drop to your knees. Give it all to him.

 

His arms are always extended, and his mercy is filled towards you.

He is always beckoning you to "Come"

 

 



 

One Word

All of us want to improve. ALL OF US. We all have a desire to be better, set goals and accomplish them.

 

But oftentimes, we set goals, and get either discouraged, lazy or inconsistent. They just don't happen.

 

So, following the advice given in "One word that will Change your life"

 

 Instead of making a list of 10 goals that you will give up on in the next month,

pick ONE WORD.

 

Pick one word, that you can live by for the next year.

 

It can be any word.

Something that you can revolve your efforts around.

Something to inspire, motivate and help you grow.

Something you need to work on.

 

"So how might I pick this word?" You may ask.....

 

1. Look in

ask yourself, what do I need?

2.Look up

Ask your Heavenly Father. Seek his guidance!

3. Look out

Look to the world around you for ideas

 

When you have picked your word, put it Everywhere!

Backgrounds, on your mirror, your cell phone etc.

 

Then, post your word! Let me know what It is. Submit it in the comments section of my blog, or on my Facebook.

Stop it!

Recently, a video was released by the church about bullying.

I encourage....No, I beg each of you to watch it.

 

Each of us has a divine potential.

Each of us have a purpose.

EACH OF US have a Father in Heaven who created us perfectly in his eyes, with the potential of becoming like him one day.

 

"Brothers and sisters, there is enough heartache and sorrow in this life without our adding to it through our own stubbornness, bitterness, and resentment."

 

 

This video has pricked at my heart. For many different reasons.

 

 I have found myself on the receiving and the giving end of this situation, I am sure we all have.

 

We have each been hurt, by the hurtful words or actions of others.

We have also all hurt somebody else by what we do.

 

There may be times we have offended somebody, and we are not aware of it.

 

To the counsel that President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, I add my fervent plea.

 

Before you say or do anything....Ask yourself:

Is it kind?

Is it true?

Is it necessary?

 

"Remember, heaven is filled with those who have this in common: They are forgiven. And they forgive."

 

We have all needed the redemptive power of forgiveness in our lives. We have all needed that change of heart. In the end, it will be,

 

The Merciful will Obtain Mercy.

 

 

 

Courage

Being strong is not always easy.

Neither is having courage.

But when we put our trust in the Lord, we will be delivered.

 

 

And like Esther, nations, can be saved by your courage :)

 

" who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" -Esther 4:14

Meet The Mormons

 

Meet Nayra.

She is amazing. She was baptized about 2 months ago into the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is one of the strongest people I know.

Not only does she have excellent taste in striped shirts, she has an incredible testimony.

 

She isn't the one wearing the missionary name-tag, but she does missionary work just as much as we do. Since her baptism she has come out with us as missionaries to teach, and help others. She was the first one in her family to join the church, and in result they are learning about the church as well.

 

 She has already changed so many live, including ours.

 

You don't have to have a name-tag to be a missionary, or even a Mormon.
